There is something comforting about the familiarity of it though, and what it signifies. It's the holidays. That time of year when over-consumption is enthusiastically encouraged, and as a society, we turn into something like a Dionysian army, sating all of our cravings and desires without restraint. A time of year when the smell of frying turkey skin at 8 o'clock in the morning seems disconcertingly appropriate.
So, in that spirit, all of us at Mr.Beer just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving! We sincerely hope that the season brings you only great happiness and, of course, tons of food; and furthermore, we hope you've got some great beer to enjoy with your bounty. In that vein, I'll direct your attention to Pat and Diane's recent podcast about beer and food pairings.
And remind you that it's healthy to let loose on the holidays. Get crazy with your pairings, with your gift giving, your beer brewing and/or drinking, heck, with your pumpkin pie eating. Cheers!
I feel real strongly that brewing is so much about community. We inspire, learn from and teach each other, and we share a mutual love for the magical process that creates beer. And when that beer is done, its always good to have someone – or a few someones – to share it with. After all this isn't your average can a' beer, but a lovingly crafted piece of art.
Anyhow, I digress. I know; I tend to get a bit wordy. Sorry guys. I'm pretty excited about all the participation so far, though, and I hope you guys are, too. In fact, there's already been one successful borg meet-up.
The heart and soul of your home brewery is, of course, your brewing ingredients. As you may or may not have already discovered, Mr.Beer has a crazy list of Refills plus what we call Recipes, where we expand your brewing possibilities even further, giving you the tools along the way to open up a universe of brewing possibilities. I'll recommend some best sellers and some staff favorites, but also, let's talk about how you can go about picking out a recipe that will be pleasing to your own specific palate.
If you're here, that means you've come across what we humbly propose may be the best gift in the history of all time - a way to make your own delicious beer! Certainly brewing is one of the best and oldest hobbies in history, and there's something to be said for something that's not only stuck around, but has flourished throughout the history of human existence. So congratulations, first of all, on thinking of the perfect gift idea! Let's talk options.
