Congrats Stephen Tomory!
Hey everybody,
It looks like the good folks at Mr. Beer have decided to take a chance on me as the next brewer to carry the monthly torch. I'm honored and humbled to follow in the steps of some of the brewers on this forum who have provided such truly great advice and wisdom on all things beer.
From the time I was a child, I have associated beer with good things. Not that I was much of a drinker when I was six or seven, but the best memories I have as a youngster were our summertime trips to the Wisconsin northwoods, and to my grandparents' farm in Bangor Michigan.
Episode 18 - Sanitizing
Greetings, gentle folk. Today we begin a new leg of our journey through the land of beer and brewing. We have spent many weeks discussing many different ingredients that can be used in beer, and we've just about talked those subjects to death. Our next victim? Sanitization. That's right: today we begin a discussion of the methods and techniques that we use to brew beer, beginning with sanitization (a.k.a. keeping your junk clean). Hope you enjoy! Palate Perfection Challenge - Pale Ales #2
Welcome to the Mr.Beer Palate Perfection Challenge. Each month we feature a specific style of beer, and every week 2 random craft beers will go Head to head, and Mr.Beer Facebook fans will vote on their favorite. At the end of the month, the beer with the most weekly votes will be crowned the monthly champion.
Throughout the month of June Mr.Beer will be posting blogs and podcasts discussing pale ales and their characteristics.
So let's talk about something that we haven't as of yet with our palate perfection challenges. Part of enjoying a good beer can be enjoying it with a great meal. Pale Ales can be hearty enough to be a meal all on their own, but that doesn't mean they have to be, or should be every time. There are so many amazing things that beer can do for your meal that it would be a shame to deny their obvious attraction to each other.

If beers were people, Pale Ale and I would have an epic friendship. This beer has everything I need in a support system: He's a perfect balance between light and dark, with good substance, and just a little bit of an attitude. At once comforting and challenging, drinking this beer reminds you that you're alive, alerting you to almost every single individual taste receptor in your mouth. A Pale Ale has such presence that you feel like you can almost take a bite out of it, yet slides down smooth, easy, and clean, leaving you thoroughly titillated and refreshed. Yep, the makings of a best bud forever, alright, and apparently many other craft beer fans feel the same way, as pale ales are one of the most popular craft beer styles.
