Hi, I'm Doug, and I'm a brewaholic...
I'm a 25 year old dude from Pittsburgh. I live with my beautiful wife, dog, 2 cats, and turtle. I work at a community correctional center (halfway house) so that would explain why I love coming home to a cold beer after dealing with convicts all day. Other than my love for beer and brewing it, I also love producing music with my friends. I would love to have a professional recording studio someday and produce music for a living. My latest beer brewing adventures have also struck an interest in possibly going somewhere with it as a career. But, for right now, I'm grateful to pay the bills and live comfortably with my wife who will be giving birth to my first boy in August!
So, my beer brewing quest started in August 2009 when I did some research online of homebrewing. I wanted to find a reasonably priced kit to see if it was something I would like doing. I've been into the craft beers pretty hardcore for the past year or so and homebrewing sounded very interesting to me. So I Googled homebrewing kits and saw a bunch of shnazzy 5 gallon brewing kits that looked pretty intimidating and expensive. I found Mr. Beer and it really caught my attention. The price was right, seemed simple enough, and had good reviews from people saying they had great results. The addiction began.
I became obsessed before my Premium Edition kit even got to my door. Reading about different recipes and all the stuff the MB Community were talking about got me so pumped about this hobby. The rest is history.
Over my short time of brewing, I've learned so much from all of the awesome guys in the forum. The MB Community forum is as addicting as the brewing and drinking of the beer! If it wasn't for this forum, I don't know if I would be as into the brewing as I am now. This site really does make this hobby awesome! I thank all the brewers for helping me make beer, really good beer!
I can't even tell you how honored I felt when I was offered this. I was having a crappy day at work and got this awesome news! My day went from miserable to great in seconds. There are so many other brewers that deserve this more than me, but I couldn't turn this down. Keep brewing that good stuff! And remember, there's never such thing as too much hops! Cheers!
When did you start brewing?
What is your favorite beer?
Wow, there's so many I can't really pick out just one! If I were to walk into a bar and see Bell's Hopslam, I would probably snag that up! Some others would be Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Dogfish Head 60 & 90 Min IPA, Troegs Nugget Nectar, Victory HopDevil, Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA & of course their Pale Ale and so many more that I've had the pleasure of drinking.
Who would you most like to share a beer with?
I know this is cliche, but I would have to say the guys on this forum. I would love to trade some homebrews with these guys and just talk about beer while catching a tasty buzz.
