Congrats Ray McKinney!

Note from the Brewmaster: Ray McKinney is a bit of a legend in the MB office. Everyone around here has spoken to him on numerous occasions, and we're all blown away by his curiosity, attention to detail, rigorous experimentation, and overall satisfaction with the beer he brews.

He's the kind of customer that makes it easy to go to work every day, because as long as there are guys like Ray out there having fun while brewing great beer, we know we're doing something right. As of last week, he's on batch number 176 in his nearly 3 year brewing career (that's well over a batch per week). He's not an active member on the forums, but we sure wish he was!

Cheers, Ray!

Here's what Ray says about his first experience brewing:

On the first day of June 2007, while I was in a local tool store, I saw two Mr Beer kits on sale. I purchased one, and decided to give it a try, and as soon as I got it fermented that day, I went back and got the second kit. On the second day of June 2007 my first two batches of beer were well on their way.

I called the staff at Mr Beer several times to learn more about the brewing process, and what ingredients were best to use. Then at the end of June I sampled my beer, and that just made brewing more interesting.

On the third day of July 2007 I ordered several different beer mixes, and more fermenting kegs from Mr Beer to experiment with. I'm partial to standard mixes; WCPA, HCCD, CABA, CGL, and by using the additional and preferred ingredients, they make some fine beer.

How long have you been brewing?
I have been brewing 2 years, and 11 months.

What is your favorite beer?
My favorite beer is WCPA standard mix, made with liquid ale yeast, and my favorite hops.

Who would you most like to share a beer with?
I enjoy sharing my beer with my son, and brothers.

My Brewing experience has been a great hobby.
