Enjoying the standard czech pilsner recipe on a sunny October afternoon.  Not overly impressed with this brew, though it is a lot better after 6-7 weeks of conditioning than after 4-5.

For me, the standard Pilsner does need more hoppy oomph, it does not have the bitterness of the European Pilsners I like.

That is why I put some extra Saaz in the Cooper's Pilsener just in case.

Exactly -- just nothing too special on its own.  Definitely adding hops next time.  That's probably all it needs to make it a little tastier.

I think the traditional Pilsner though does not use dry hopping, so you would need to boil or steep them and then take them out to get a similar traditional effect probably.

Tried the Cooper's Pils again. Different from the Mr B Pils. It is a different bitterness and less malty - but then not very old yet - 4 weeks.

I also under carbed it.   I am not sure what Hop they use.

Pretty sure it uses Saaz, like the MRB Pilsner.

I had figured it might but the taste seems very different. Maybe it is the yeast.

For sure, I didn't like the original kit, but with a half bag of dry malt, and a couple big spoons of honey, it turned out real good.  That's 2 weeks ferment, 4 weeks bottled.  Next batch, I'll try leave one 8 weeks to see if it's a lot better.  But, if the fridge is nearing empty....
