Anybody Used Salt In A Recipe?

Recommended Posts

Years ago somebody told me that they put salt in their beer when they drank it. I tried it and now I just about can't drink a store bought beer without adding a sprinkle of salt to it. Anybody tried a recipe that uses salt or maybe tried adding a bit during the bottling process? Or would it over carbonate it? I know when I add it, it gives the beer a great head but if you use too much you get mostly foam and it can spew out all over the place.

My grandfather used to salt in his beer. He always told me it was to help nock down the bubbles so it made it easier to drink and on his belly. He also used to do that with sodas too. Miller makes one with salt in it. If you were thinking about doing it and you think it may over carb it, use PET bottles the frist time. But I don't think it would over carb if added to the wort before putting into F-Keg.
