Red IPA

Recommended Posts

I did something very similar with the PilotHouse Pilsner and the Red Ale.

At first, I was quite concerned mixing an Ale and Lager, but since found out that the dry yeast provided were truly "ale" yeasts and didn't fear mixing them.

After getting a STRONGLY hoppy flavor, I decided to moderate it this time with 2 Reds and 1 Pilothouse. I'll report back in about 3 weeks when I've decided carbonation is done.

That red IPA seems very good. I have only made the straight American Devil IPA, but the addition of the red ale seems like it will produce a very tasty IPA. I definitely will try it soon.

I was looking to make a real hoppy IPA for my next batch. I was going to use:

* 2 cans American Devil IPA
* a can of some other hoppy ale (maybe the bewitched red now after reading this)
* a good UME to add a little more to it (i was kinda thinking either the wheat or the amber)
* 2 Packets of hops (not really sure which ones tho)

Any suggestions?
