Adding lactose to a Vanilla Porter.... Good idea or bad?

I'm making a Vanilla Porter on Thursday. I was thinking about adding 4 oz. of lactose to give it a silky, creamy mouth feel. Is this a good idea or bad?

Great idea! I've been playing around with variations on chocolate porters with lactose sugar, and I've been quite happy with the results.

Just so we're not all dogpiling on @RickBeer, I would add that if being true to the style is super important to you, you might want to reconsider, but it is tasty nonetheless.
