22mm Socket (Deep Well)

Recommended Posts

While assembling spigot hand tightened then did water test, leaked.

Took apart then tried again spinning outside once to grip tight, leaked.

Took apart then aligned outside gasket uniformly, then hand tightened from inside with 22 mm deep well socket.

No more leak or gasket being deformed.

That shouldn't be. Heck, I just snug it a little by hand, not using much force. Never had a leak.

Yep, once I've filed any burrs down, I snug by hand but leave the spigot at a slight angle and that final slight twist of the spigot to nearly vertical does the job.

Got to make sure you get the flat side of the nut facing the washer, the raised side will leak every time.

I have two kegs. One has no issues, the other, well let's just say it can be a little trying. Most of the time my procedure is similar to @Cato's. My last batch, I had to heat the washer in warm water to make it a little more pliable before it would seal. Taking it apart was also a pain. This morning, magic. Sealed on the first and only try. Go figure.

I would be very careful using tools inside the keg because of the possibility of scratching the plastic.
