Winter Dark Ale

This looks amazing!!! Is this straight from the can? Did you tweek it?

Straight from the can!  This was the first one I poured and was exceptionally foamy (as you can tell), but every one since has looked like a more traditional Guinness w/ a little less foam (see attached picture).  Really an amazing brew.  I fermented for 19 days, with the first few days being on the low end of the recommendation (probably around 64 degrees); then conditioned at around 68-70 for 4 weeks.  Used bottled spring water.  Just brewed the St. Patrick's Irish Stout Deluxe refill which should be ready by Super Bowl Sunday.  

 

Love the winter dark. Mine came out exactly the same as yours as far as the head goes. Very tasty indeed!

I'm trying to learn to describe the flavors and you've nailed it.

 

This one is borderline too hoppy for me...but border-line is still okay!

This bottle I'm having was fermented 18 days, carbonated 20 days, refrigerated 10 days.  My OG was 1.040 and FG 1.006.  Just used the BIG can.  No booster.  Used my new LBK with black lid.

It really is great!  I have one 740ml bottle left that was conditioned for about 7 weeks that is in my fridge and I don't want to see it go!   

 

I just bottled the other night the St. Patrick's Stout Deluxe Refill.  The sample was promising -- sweet roasted chocolate with a hint of black licorice.  This will be my first actual stout brewed from Mr. Beer so I'm hoping for the best!
