  1. Swen, I would be tempted to steep 100 grams or so of the black patent and use the CGL, 1 pound of DME, booster and whatever hop schedule you prefer. Then ferment with the Notty as close to 60 degrees F. as possible. I think that would be in the spirit of a black lager or black IPA, depending on your hop choices. Post your choice.
  2. No. Yes. Have you reached your projected final gravity? Most likely it is CO2 coming out of solution and forming bubbles on top. If you think otherwise, please submit a pic and more details

I bought it when they clearaced it for less. The next week the shelf was stocked again with full price cider. Go figure? shelf life issue with the cider? Maybe. But I shop the clearance isles regularly and that stuff happens alot. I have found things red tagged on the clearance isle, like Dove soap, and looked and found the same item on the shelf for full price.

  5. I checked the one I just bought and it was red tagged at $6.45. Maybe it is a national thing.

  7. A result of fermenting in the toilet.
  8. Mark your bucket at 5 gallons and top off to that line.

I was thinking for a Work holiday party to have N/A beer at work and I know several of my brews the Wort tasted really good even before fermented. Just need to carb and not use yeast or will not be N/A Are the little Malta bottles prycap?
  10. Dave, My small brew kettle had a scorched electric element spiral on the inside of it for a while. Since, I have always cut the heat when I add LME. The bottom of the pan cools enough that the LME will not scorch as it plummets to the bottom of the pan. I stir enough to get it dissolved and then put the spurs to it to resume my boil.
  11. +1 the included Mr Beer yeast is a fine performer in adequate amounts and it will work near 60 degrees F. Kudos to Beerlabelman for the recognition the frumunda deserves!
