  1. I have this HME and access to a LHBS what do others think I should add to this?

    Witty Monk

I have two cans of Witty Monk that I wanted to brew up for a nice summertime brew. I wanted to try a different yeast with this, suggestions would help. I have never had this and since you can't get it anymore should I brew this straight up or add some DME/LME to it? I do have a LHBS to go to

  4. I know that this was talked about before, but I figured I would run it by you all first to see if it is worth going to the man about it. Last night after I cleaned my LBK from the most recent fermentation process I noticed that the spigot was cracked right where the threads meet the the larger flat part. I didn't thinks I tightened this too much but I guess I must have. The sad thing is that this was the first and only time I used this sipgot. Now if I want a new one I need to pay 10 dollars (2.95 for the piece and 7.95 for the shipping) Do I ask MRB to see if there is anything that they can do for me before I bit the bullet and order one?
  5. Thanks guys!! I was actually able to get to the bottling this evening
  6. I was all ready to bottle on Wednesday, but things came up and then the family came down with a stomach bug. I figured it would be better to not bottle when the germs are floating around here. Ok to leave it in for an extra week. This is a Honey Wheat beer.
  7. Figured this might be a dumb question, but being that this was brewed with the old MRB Wheat UME, should this beer not clear out completly (being that it is somewhat of a wheat beer)?
  8. Yeah defiantly some activity in the keg. I know that the keg temp might be a little higher than the ambient air around it, so I have that going for me. Again I can't get a real temp number on the keg because it is the cheap free one MB gives you if you register the keg.
  9. So it has been about 24 hours since I brewed and the free temp gauge is reading that it is too cold. I have the keg in a cooler to try and keep the temp constant. I put in a digital thermometer in the cooler and it was reading around 60 (I don't get this because my house is at 71). I put a jug of warm water in the cooler to raise the temp some, but won't be able to do that all the time. Any other suggestions, or do you think that this lower temp will still be ok. I plan on letting this ferment out the full 3 weeks
  10. I have 25 dollars to burn on Amazon, could get refills, but I think that I have enough to last me for a few more batches. I was looking for some suggestions on good brewing/beer books Thanks in advance
  11. Since I want the flavor, I will add it after the boil. Thanks for the imput
  12. What is your preference on adding honey, during the boil or after when you add the HME? Making the Cowboy Honey Wheat (I have been trying to brew for past three days and something always comes up)
  13. Thanks for the help on this. Longer fermentation or conditioning time on this one for the honey and UME?
  14. I am looking for the recipe for Cowboy Honey Wheat I have the google docs document but all the links don't work anymore Help I want to brew tonight 3+2+2 ok for this one?
  15. Just wanted everyone's opinion on yeast. I have some HME's from last March, should I get some new yeast when I brew them? First Batch will be a and HME (Cowboy Lager) + UME (Wheat) + Honey
