  1. Originally From Staten Island, NY But I call the Metro DC area now.
  2. Man that sounds good. Save me one, please. I have First pitch fermenting in one LBK Chauffeur Red in another. I'd brew more if I had more LBK's :woohoo:
  3. Not sure, we use a bottle opener on the Church Key, it doesn't seem to really dent it. Thank you though, I was just wondering about it and now you have allowed me to put that thought to rest and not try it.

  5. Laughing at my self DUH! On a side note, I like to recycle and since we're talking about bottle priming, can you reuse the metal bottle caps that don't twist off? I mean if they aren't deformed.
  6. For those that are Face Book users or just curious Here's a link: [/url Hopefully this will help. Oh and I found a way to cut the Cooper's tabs in half, we'll see how that goes with the bottle carbonation
  7. So it's like racking except adding sugar to the mix. There's a Mr Beer FB page.
  8. I wondered how to do that, I asked on the FB page, but other than the comment of "Batch Prime" no takers. Right now I have two LBK's looking at picking up a Cider Keg or two. Running out of room in the Fermentation cabinet, which in the Laundry room. Though the bright side We're trying to buy a house that has a really wonderful storage space that has a constant temp, so when that happens we might be able to expand ( wife makes Mead) When you Batch prime, you can go straight to bottling right?
  9. That's what I figured for the 1/2 liter bottles, but hey I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I'll have to look around for the Muntun tabs. How much do they run for??
  10. thanks Brother. I thought I saw a recipe on the site, and you helped defog my brain. I'Gonna make an ABBEY DUBELL. I even have the SAAZ Hops that the recipe recommends. Sweetness! So Recipe's for the coming weeks: Last Night: First Pitch Pilsner Tonight or tomorrow: Chauffeur Red Ale Next brews: ABBEY DUBBEL 3 Spice Lemon Weiss Imperial Pilsner ??Bombay Bliss?? Along with misc. Meads and Ciders Anybody got any other suggestions?
  11. So here's what I have: Whispering Wheat Weizenbier Classic American Blonde Ale Oktoberfest Vienna Lager Any one use it with any of them. If so how did it come out?
  12. VanceFox wrote: I like carb drops. I buy a 60 pack for about $5 from my local. One drop per 12oz bottle. Can't beat it. Oh, and it really speeds up the bottling process. I got some yesterday from a co-worker of mine whose transferring to Japan and off loading stuff, how much would the 500 ml need (also got for free), 1 1/2 drops?? I just put one into each bottle this morning, think that will work?
  13. I've been looking and looking at this since I started looking at recipes. I can't wait to try it!
  14. Would love to do a park meet up in May, that way, I'd have a few things finished and ready. Right now I have a double hopped version of 1776 Ale bottled, waiting till this afternoon to carbonate. Just brewed First Pitch last night, and I'm brewing Chauffeur Red Ale today.
  15. Hi Guys, I just registered on the site. I currently live on Ft. Belvoir and work in D.C., but we are looking to buy up in the Silver spring area. Just started brewing beer, have been into making Mead for a few years so this is an extension of that hobby. Anyways, my wife was in the thrift store a few months ago and found a complete kit, which sat around for a couple of months, but now is in full steam. Did the West Coast ale, wasn't too bad but I think it was an expired kit. Currently getting ready to bottle my second batch, 1776 Ale, and getting to work on Chauffeur Red ale, and wanting to christen a new Keg that just got here, I have ideas for that. Wish I could meet you all on the 25'th but have plans out of the area.
