  1. Just wondering if anyone has brewed this yet and had a chance to taste how it turned out? I tried the White IPA and it did not turn out how i had hoped. Thanks!
  2. Has anyone used a LME with the White IPA? If so did it turn out ok? I was thinking about adding a Pale LME or would a Golden LME be better? Any thoughts?

  5. Just wondering....I have heard and I believe I have read it on the Borg here that star scan can be reused? Is this true or am I thinking of something else? If so, how is it reused and how many times can it be reused?

  7. Just moved into a new house. I now have an area in my basement all set up for home brewing. My only question is that it is much cooler down there than in my old house. Checked the air temp around my LBK's and it is around 63 degrees. Is that too cold for fermentation?

    another question...if you are looking for aroma is it better to dry hop or do a short boil?

    Just wondering...if i dry hop with a muslin sack do i have to do any type of sanitizing to the muslin before i put my hops in it and put them in my fermenter??

  11. I have an old Mr.Beer HME (West Coast Pale Ale). I have brewed 4 batches straight up and am ready to experiment. I REALLY want to try a hops boil with this HME. I have a Pale LME to boil hops in. Just wondering if anyone out there has a suggeston of what hops to use for this. I want to add some bitterness as well as flavor. I plan on dry hopping the last week of fermentation with .5oz of columbus hops. Very interested in what to boil before that to add bitterness and a little flavor??? Sorry I accidentally posted this in FAQ's too. Thanks for the help!!

    Cloudy Beer

    So you guys think just leave it be, bottle tomorrow, and forget the cold crash? Or should i cold crash it overnight then bottle tomorrow?
  16. I brewed a batch of MR beer HME Amber Ale with a Mellow Amber LME. Let it ferment for 3 weeks. Temp SEEMED fine throughout fermentation. Tasted a sample today and it tasted ok, but it looked REALLY cloudy and it looks like there is still yeast or something floating along the edges of the fermenter and there was some "sediment" in the sample i tasted. Is this ok? If not what could cause this? I am thinking about cold crashing for 1 or 2 days before i bottle to see if this helps. Thoughts?? Thanks!

    Thanks that is a lot of good info! I was planning on using glacier hops to dry hop my porter. Do you have any suggestions for a good hop to use when dry hopping and/or a boil for the Mr beer winter dark ale?

    Thanks!! That chart helps a ton! I think i might give the glacier hops a try when i first start. Do certain hops work better for flavor and others better for arouma, or does it really only matter how long you boil?
  20. This may be a stupid question...but I was wondering how do you know what type of hops to use with what type of HME? Are there certain kinds of hops that are more "universal" I guess is the only word I can think to use. Any favorites you guys have? I am new to homebrewing and am already obsessed! I am going to do a few standard Mr Beer brews first to learn the basics, but would like to learn as much as possible so I can start doing some hop boils and maybe start with some dry hopping first. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!! On another note...this is the third or fourth question i've posted and i just wanted to say thanks to everyone! So far I have got tons of great help info from this forum!

  22. just set them on like a metal baking tray? do you use any no rinse cleaner or anything after you bake them or right before you bottle?
  23. how exactly do you "bake" them? any particular steps?
  24. Just wondering what is the best/easiest way to sanatize 12oz glass bottles before I use them for bottling my home brew?
