  1. I'd be interested in a clone of Samuel Smith Taddy Porter using Mr Beer ingredients. I'm a Christmas 2014 mr beer brewer with three successful batches under my belt. I'm ready to start working on something I really like rather than randomly picking what's already available. I liked the American Porter and just got the Deluxe version. My plan was to make that then try it with different yeast. Later perhaps try adding another HME or LME to the mix. It would be nice to have a little guidance in the right direction to avoid cooking up some messes. The recipes I've seen so far to replicate what I'm after seem a little more complex than what I've done so far.
  2. I've been looking at ingredients of different porter recipes to help understand the various effects of different ingredients. I've noticed a few of the american porter based recipes use a different yeast. Specifically the SAFALE S-04 DRY ALE YEAst. What is the outcome or goal of using this yeast (or any other) rather than the basic dry ale yeast that comes with the refill?
