Boxerbrewing38 2 Posted November 11, 2011 Hey guys a buddy of mine just ordered a MB kit and he asked me if i knew if you would be able to use 2 packs of booster in a standard kit. I never tried and was wondering if it was possible or if it could some how hurt the beer he's going to try. Just don't want him to brew something and have it come out bad and not brew anymore thanks guys CHEERS
Guest System Admin Posted November 11, 2011 if you like cider tasting beer that needs 8 weeks to taste below average I would say go for it.2 bags of booster is too much Adjuncts, please have him read the:Simple guidelines and malt - adjunct ratio threads

Before using 2 bags of booster I'd make sure I put an HME and a UME in the recipe first, and then pitch a wholesome amount of yeast.
dferron 0 Posted November 11, 2011 If you are looking for a little more ABV sub out the second booster for 1-1.5# of Breis Light DME. Would be much tastier that cider.
Guest Posted November 11, 2011 Tell him to use half a bag of booster to the one can of HME, will be lower abv, but will taste ok. IMO, using 2 bag o booster to one HME is equivalent to drinking a bottle of cider vinegar fromunder.....the sink. IMHO.
bpgreen 209 Posted November 11, 2011 I've used two Booster pouches in a batch of beer before, but it was a 4 or 5 gallon batch. I think I used 3 HMEs and a little more than 1 lb of LME from the LHBS. So it was a ratio of about 2 cans of extract to 1 Booster. 2 Boosters to 1` ME is the wrong direction for the malt to adjunct ratio.
