Will a Octoberfest Vienna Lager work at 62 - 68?

Recommended Posts

I have started the West Coast Pale Ale, and looking forward to starting the Octoberfest refill that I got as well. So the question, do I need to go ahead and get the chest freezer with temp control to keep it at 50 degrees, or will the Octoberfest ferment at 62 - 68?

If you are using the yeast that came with the OVL 64-68 F is a great temp for it. They call it a lager but ALL of the yeast that comes with the Mr Beer HMEs is an ale yeast.

EDIT: And WELCOME to the Borg! :chug:

Welcome Aboard!

Mr. Beer uses lager as a time base not Lager as in beer temp.

The Yeast (Fromunda) that comes with Mr. Beer kit is Ale yeast and works from 62-75*F best 64-68*F for best beer results
