priming in growlers

Recommended Posts

I dont have any bottles yet but ive already started brewing but I do have a lot of growlers. Is priming in growlers just as good as bottles?

Any concerns

Thank you and Prost!

I had zero carb when i bottled in a screw top growler and i have seen posts that say that their growlers have exploded due to thin glass. bottle in growlers at your own risk.

Growlers aren't designed for carbonating. They are for holding a already carbonated beverage for a few days to a week. You may be able to pull it off using them, but IMO, I wouldn't risk the cost and time to bottle in growlers.

my growler is about [8-9] years old . i have used it on 8 batches of mr.beer and have been brewing for a year and 2 months. some have been flat and othes have better in the [GRLR] . im still a fan of them . irsh_stout_grower_-20120213.jpg
