Recommended Posts

My forth batch I did a GINGER CASTAWAY ALE it has been fermenting for 25 days directions say to ferment for three weeks. It is starting to clear up a little the SG Is 1.004 the top has little particals that seams not to go away. My questiom is what is going on? my outher batches the FG was 1.010. and the top of the brew was clear.

Thanks for any answers.

I would think 1.004 would be a good thing. It means you've fermented more sugars, and hence, created more alcohol. I'd say cold crash that baby for a full 2 days, then bottle it up.

Every batch is different, and the conditions are going to vary from batch to batch, so you can't expect the same results. Some residual stuff floating on top isn't cause for concern, though.

Since it's gone the three weeks, and the gravity reading seems to be on target, it would seem to be ready for bottling.
