Oktoberfest addition?

Recommended Posts

I plan to brew the 850g can of Oktoberfest in the LBK this weekend. I was thinking of adding a pound (just about 1/2 kg) of dry malt extract (pale) to add body and flavor. Is this too much? Do I need to add additional yeast beside the packet that comes with the MB can?

A pound of DME is fine, and the 5g yeast pack will be fine.

Cheers!

Adding a # of DME will be fine, you should have a good beer. The 5g of yeast will do the job. :chug:

A pound of DME should be fine. I steeped mine with a pound of Munich Malt and some Liberty Hops in a 15 minute boil and it came out great.

The only thing I'd say is with adding the malt you're going to change the flavor profile slightly less hoppy. That's why I added the hops to mine as well, but you could get away without a hop addition, I'm sure. The fromunda packet was all I used for yeast.

Usually when I add DME to a recipe that is a modification of a old HME basic one, I pitch 2 packs of the MrB (2g) yeast so I'm positive that a new 5g pack will work on this.
