English IPA - question

Recommended Posts

Morning everyone!

Have a question about and English IPA that I made.

I brewed this up on 3/16 and bottled somewhere around the 4/6 weekend.

3Lb Maris Otter LME
7 oz Victory
7 oz Special Roast

0.75oz Styrian Golding @ 60
0.50oz Mosaic @ 22
0.50oz Mosaic @ 7
1oz Mosaic @ 5 days dry hop

WLP007

My final stats:
OG - 1.047
FG - 1.010
SRM - 13
IBU - 59
ABV - 4.9

Since I bottled on 4/6, when do you think would be a decent time to test a 1st bottle??? I'm thinking this weekend...but I'd like to get some feedback.

For some reason, I have 6/30 written on the box to try it...but something has me thinking I should be trying one sooner.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

*** And I apologize, this my not be truly to style, but it's what I wanted to work with here.

I bet it is going to be good when ever you decide to taste it.

Let us know what you think of the hop profile please. We've only done one IPA so far.

So this weekend would be 6 weeks in the bottle....If it were me, I would put one in the fridge today and drink it this weekend. It looks like a pretty simple recipe so it shouldn't need a ton of conditioning.

+1 to BlackDuck.

I like my IPAs young, so I would probably have finished this batch off by now! Haha.

Seriously, though, you won't get the full use of that big dry hop if you don't start drinking it soon. The aroma will diminish over time and with that OG, I doubt it requires an extended conditioning time.

Drink away and report back on the results!!

Bravo. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it.

I'll throw a handful of them in the fridge tonight. Glad I asked.

I would have tried one at 4 weeks just because I'd have to but me thinks it's ready.
Let me know what you think of the Mosaic hops. I've been thinking of getting some but I have so much now that I have to use.

Drink 'em up Chris...

Paul, I used Mosaic in a wheat and it was great.... Kind of like Simcoe with a twist...

Also had it in a friends IPA and it was equally good...

:)
