New/Old Keg and clean?

Recommended Posts

Hey all I recently recieved another LBK from a co-worker because her boyfriend got one a couple of years ago but never used it. I want to start using that keg but I want to make sure its clean and ready to go. It has been sitting in the box for a couple of years, and has never been used for beer. If I do a good clean beforehand will it be good to go? Or is it possible that it has collected dust or something while in the box? For cleaning I have heard a lot of suggestions as to what works best. Will baking soda be an ok thing to use to clean it? Thanks.

A cleaning with whatever u usually use, then sanitize with onestep (or whatever u use) and it should be good to go. Brew-on!

Soak it in some oxyclean free, then it should be good.

If it's never been used for anything, simple unscented dish soap will clean it fine, then sanitize as John Dubya noted. If it was used to brew anything, smell it. If all you smell is plastic, no need to soak in Oxiclean.
