Diablo IPA is tasting like Newcastle

Recommended Posts

So after 6 weeks of conditioning my Diablo IPA with added 1.3 cups honey (ya, I know, not good to add that) is really tasting more like a nut brown ale (a lot like Newcastle). Really weird.

So...is that good or bad or just a general statement? Aside from the honey, which you addressed, it looks like just a statement of fact. And I guess if you like Newcastle, then good.

I actually menitoned this with my first batch of the Diablo IPA as well. I felt it had a very strong New Castle similarity. Not a bad beer at all. It definitely could use more flavor and aroma to offset a little of the bitterness.

After 3-4 months mine has pretty much no flavor at all....just bitterness. I think I'm officially done with HME. Tried the API IPA last night and experienced the same thing. No flavor.
