Carboy ?

Are 3 gallon carboy's large enough for a Mrbeer sized brew of 2.5 gallon's.I ask because I have a line on a couple cheap like free.

Yup... Actually a little too big...

But, you can just add more malt and raise the volume to 3 gallons!

A 3 gallon would be great. You could still keep with 2.5 gallon batches. The extra head space would be filled up by the CO2. I brew 3-4 gallon batches in a 5 gallon fermenter with not probs at all.

I use 3g buckets I got from the bakery when I do a stupid and forget I dont have a free fermenter and no problems at all.

As long as you use it for Primary fermentation , then you will be fine.

As long as its food grade plastic, glass, and hasn't been used to store who knows what then I agree you'll be fine.
