milk stout

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I have brewed a number of mr.Beer stouts and have enjoyed them all.Was thinking of brewing a type of milk stout.I just ordered some lactose from another co.seeing Mr.Beer dosent carry lactose. Has anyone used lactose in their stouts and which Mr.Beer stout recipe would you use?

I have not made a milk stout before, but I would use the St. Patrick's Stout refill, and from would I have read on line I would say about 1/2 pound of lactose.

1/2 pound would be about right for a MrBeer size batch. I used a pound in a 5 gallon batch.

I'm making my first batch of Mr. Beer now. Just going with the basic Irish Stout. I'm a huge stout fan and really love Milk Stouts. Spucky, or anyone else, can you tell me where you ordered the lactose? I think my next will be a Milk Stout.

Also as a newbie here I would also be interested in doing an Imperial Stout, or preferably an Imperial Milk Stout. Any ideas how to go about it?
