Need a Grey Cup brew

Recommended Posts

I have 11 weeks until the Grey Cup. (Canadian Football League version of your Superbowl)

I need a recipe that will be a crowd pleaser that I can have ready for Nov 24. Keep in mind... It's cold here by that date, and our championship game is played outside, no matter the weather... this years cup is played Saskatchewan. While we may not be at the game itself I would like a brew that would satisfy for the game conditions.

Anybody got ideas?

Hmmmm, thats a bit tricky.  Normally I would say go with a potent winter warmer, but time is pressing for a good conditioning.  I feel your pain as I will be spending many hours around the tailgate for college football, and it WILL get cold eventually.  Last year for s&g I took a spiced pumpkin beer and warmed it sort of akin to a wassel - warm meaning not to the point of driving any alkiehaul away.  Strangely enough, it was actually a hit especially when augmented with a shot (or two) of Captain Morgans.  I would have to check my notes but I believe it was in the 6'ish abv range which can easily be bumped up and the spices should cover any green taste that may remain.  This is probably going to be the next thing I make seeing as I am always a couple of months off on my seasonals.

I vote for Defibrillator Doppelbock! It comes on surprisingly quick for how big it is. A big IPA works too! And our Golden Nut Brown should fill the bill as well:
