Bottling

Recommended Posts

My first batch has been in bottles for about 8 days. Some are hard as the instructions said they would be, but others are not. Should I  wait 14 days with the whole batch before I move to the next step, or are the ones that are hard ready?

Wait at least 4 weeks. The yeast needs 2 weeks to carb and 2 weeks to condition. If you wait the 4 weeks, you will have a tasty beer.

I have occasionally found a few bottles that didn't carbonate. I suspect that they didn't get primed, but having a cap that's not fully sealed will do it too, and I know that happens once in a while. Usually snugging the cap does the job, but not always.

It's not all that unusual at 8 days to feel some bottles harder than others. And there is no next step at 14 days. Just leave them at room temp for 4 weeks.
