STLbrew 0 Posted January 31, 2014 Looking into 5 gallon batches and there are 6 gallon or 6.5 gallon primary buckets available. Is the extra half gallon that important? tssummers50 0 Posted January 31, 2014 I have always used 6.5 gallon carboy for 5 gallon batches.Probably isn't all that important but I like the extra headspace so I don't have to use a blowoff tube as much.Whenever I used a 6 gallon I would sometimes have to use a blowoff tube due to fermentation coming out of the airlock..
