Sanitizing the Capper

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready to start bottling in 12 oz bottles. I searched google about sanitizing the capper and the general consensus seemed to be that there is no need to dunk the capper. While its not a lot of effort either way should I be safe rather than sorry?

Did you find anyone that sanitized the capper?   Doubt it.  No reason to.

Since the capper only touches the top of the cap, I don't see why one would sanitize it.

I have never sanitized the capper. I keep the caps in a dish of sanitizer while I'm bottling. Fill a bottle, place a cap in it and press it down in the capper. Never had an issue.
