New Brew: Columbus Horse Ale

Recommended Posts

For my 5th homebrew I took the Horse's Ass Ale recipe and added 1oz of Columbus Hops.  I liked the Horse's Ass Ale - it was slightly hoppy and the honey taste came through nicely, but I was looking to increase the hoppiness and add a grapefruit taste to it.  The 1oz of Columbus Hops did EXACTLY what I wanted it to do and this came out excellent!  It's my favorite so far.  3 weeks fermentation; 4 weeks conditioned.  Not a bad looking brew if I do say so myself.  :)

@Kevin Caffrey  - I like that you have rated your brews.

Thanks.  I just figure it might be helpful for those thinking of what to brew next.  I know a lot of the recipes on MrBeer.com have reviews, but a lot do not.

Like this one so much that I'm thinking for my next brew in a couple of weeks of using the same recipe and adding a pale DME to it -- Columbus Horse Pale Ale.  I'm awesome at coming up with names for beer.   :)

Now if you used a smooth and a pale that would be a columbus horse's smooth pale ass ale

Just put some brain food in it and then you can call it Smart Ass Ale.

Chocolate is better than oily fish though.
