Can I transport my LBK

Recommended Posts

I want to start a new brew this weekend, but I will be out of town the following week for a few days. Can I transport my LBK inside a cooler over to my brother's house (he only lives a block away) so he can babysit it and watch the temp? I wasn't sure if the sloshing while moving it would be bad. It will be fermenting for 3-4 days before I need to move it.

I'll let some of the more seasoned members respond, but I would just leave it where it is while you are only out of town for a week.  I typically haven't touched mine for the three weeks once I set it in the cooler (short of 1 mad scientist experiment).

I'm new, but all that I've read here would say that if you've brewed before and temps have been relatively the same on those brews...you should be fine to just leave it be while you're gone. BUT I could be wrong. I have 3 going right now and the temp hasn't changed and has been a steady 65F.

I would leave it alone, figuring it hit peak during the first 3-4 days when you have it.  Or, wait till you get home to start it.

If you REALLY have to move it, it should be fine if you're careful. But I agree with Rick. Wait until you get home.
