chisels1 13 Posted March 27, 2017 After 3 weeks fermenting and 4 weeks bottled, I chilled a couple bottles of my first ever batch. It was an American Classic Light and was damn good a bit malty had a nice head and light golden in color. It will be a hit with my son who will like that I used the LBK Mr. Beer kit he got me for Christmas. Anybody else tried this?

RickBeer 6,227 Posted March 28, 2017 Never heard CAL referred to as malty, but it is definitely not hoppy. It used to be the beer that came with all kits, so most started with it. Congrats on following 3/4, then 3 days in the fridge, definitely makes a difference,

Nickfixit 3,990 Posted March 28, 2017 If you like a little bit of grapefruity hop in it, get 0.5 oz Citra , put it in a a hop bag and put it in the beer mix when you turn the heat off. I really like the CAL made with the Refill can, 1 pack (approx. 1/2 lb) of the light malt (LME or DME) and the Citra hop. It just brightens it up that bit. It is a big difference for ~$2. Oh - I don't see Citra in Mr Beer list. Hmm. Maybe some other hop instead but Citra is nice.
