diacetyl rest before cold crashing?

Recommended Posts

actual beer question. brewing hazy ipa and used US-04. inkbird set at 65 for 2 weeks. ready to cold crash, but should I do a diacetyl rest for a few days 1st at 68 and THEN cold crash? or doesn't make a difference, just crash it now. crashing b/c there a TON of dry hops in this recipe.

I'd go ahead and crash it.  Unless you used Burlington yeast for your haze, as it can produce more diacytel then other ale yeasts and a rest is recommended for it.

ETA:  Nevermind, just saw that you used s-04.

Actually, I’ve used this method for last years Tank 7 recipe that those guys finally released, unfortunately, they have their own trademark on their yeast. I found a yeast that was compatible. I’ve used dycitel rest for a Wheatwine and a few ipas. And tried it out with a kveik.
