Jamaica Mon

Just had my trub bottle of JM. Had a real strong alcohol taste, more like malt liquor.

I was thinking of brewing the jamaica mon myself in the next couple of weeks. Was yours a success? Did you follow Mr. Beer recipe or venture out on your own?

Only change was I steeped 1/3 lb carapils. So far the first 2 bottles were good, only the trub bottle was way strong. Never had that happen with other batches.

I am planning on making this for my wedding rehersal...Did you let it condition at room temp or just put it in the fridge to cold condition?

Of course I have to chime in on this one. Jamaica Mon is a particular favorite of mine as others will attest to.

I have found that Jamaica Mon made as the recipe suggests tends to go down pretty hot if it hasn't conditioned. I strongly recommend letting it cool condition for at least 1 month.

My recent batch subbed in DME for the Booster and added hops plus some grains. Very different character. Smooth and no bite.
